The Hook and Plow first opened their doors on February 21st, 2014 with big dreams for this small restaurant.
It’s a family run business with 4 owners, Husband and wife team Brian and Bre Kelleher, and Twin sisters Lisa Cassity and Lauren Copelan. As they celebrate 5 years of business, they reflect back on what this journey has meant to them.
With a warm smile, Bre begins saying “We built this restaurant in hopes that it would be a place where friends, family, loved ones, neighbors, and strangers would come together”. She continues “All while creating memories that will inevitably warm your heart and your belly. I think we have done just that!”

The Farm to Table concept highlights local, organic, and sustainable as much as possible, and lots of fresh seafood. “When we started out, we hoped that our farm to table concept was something that would resonate with the community because it was something the 4 of us are very passionate about. 5 years is quite a milestone and I feel grateful everyday that we have been embraced by the community as we have. Thank you!” says Lauren. The sense of community is a reoccurring theme amongst the group, which continues to be one of the driving forces behind this business.
“It’s been an honor to have such loyal local following that has not only been able to watch us grow as a business, but that we have had the opportunity to watch their families grow as we have. I we have had the opportunity to watch their families grow as we have. In many families what started out as a party of two 5yrs ago has in many cases become a party of 3 plus a highchair and then some. We really feel we have become a part of the Hermosa Beach family and that feels amazing.” Says Brian.
Serving the South Bay Great Food Has Been So Rewarding
All 4 owners live in South bay, and have for the last 14 years, and it means the world to them. Lisa adds, “This community which we love, makes our dream come true every single day, and it has become our family. Hermosa locals have accepted us and welcome us as apart of their daily lives, and it has truly been such an honor.”
They will celebrate this accomplishment with their customers on February 21st, 2019 at the Hook and Plow. In celebration, they are giving a free dessert to diners and guests that evening, and throughout the weekend as a little thank you!
